Poodles and Cat's Clay.

This is my first ever blog post! Our house is a varied array of chaos at times...so this could be a place for all the happenings of the Carson Clan. Life can be wild at times.

Anyone who knows me very well, knows that I'm a dog person. I do like cats, but I'm allergic to them. I'm also allergic to dogs. My allergies are not severe, but I will have a constant sore throat and swollen glands if they are in the house I'm living in. I have Standard Poodles for a reason. It took a while to discover that I'm allergic to the saliva of dogs too, only if the puppies are rough housing with me and chewing and scratching my hands will I get itchy hives. Anyways...cats. I try to keep them out of the house, but I live with 6 cats lovers. Around a year ago I got a potter's wheel and shortly after that, a kiln. I took over what we always called The Man Cave, which we also call the Granny Flat. I call my little pottery business Cat's Clay. Some of my close friends call me Cat, and I liked the sounds of it. I guess the Granny Flat is now a pottery studio. It's a fine place for a litter box, unfortunately. The cats need a safe warm place with winter coming...and a couple of poodles that are relentless. Today, some of my greenware was knocked off and broken on the floor by a kitten, it's definitely not the first time. Kittens are fun loving little stinkers. We try to keep around 4 cats...for mouse purposes. Around a week ago, our 6 yr old daughter saw a fluffy kitten going under the chicken coop. She was convinced it was not one of ours. Martin, the very excellent cat rescuer (they often go up onto the roof to escape the pesky dogs, it's a 2.5 storey house and Martin has gone through the hatch to the roof more than once to get a kitten down) He has a soft spot for cats), put a piece of kibble at the edge and a little paw came out and took it. He put more food there until this tiny, fluffy grey and peach kitten cam out. He nabbed her and brought her into a heated shed, where she gobbled up food and water. She has been named Lucky. Unfortunately, this little thing had a very rough go before coming to us, she is all bones and fur. Her bottom lip must have gotten stuck to something she was trying to eat, or maybe some ice.... and it looks like it's been ripped off. Yeah, Lucky is lucky now....but hasn't been for a while. Lucky now purrs and enjoys a good cuddle. Apparently she's a fan favourite around here, so I guess this lipless cat will probably be a fixture.

Today, I photographed a bunch of pottery to post on this site - with the help of Viola.... a stray my dad found and gave to Miss. P. I plan to make a page here for the things I've created that are for sale. Please feel free to check it out, if there's anything you'd like to buy we can ship it within Canada. At this time we'll be accepting e-transfers for payment, or cash if you pick up in person. Please be patient while we figure out shipping charges.

As we prepare for the Christmas season, let's enjoy the little things and not get stressed by all the purchasing. If you'd like a pottery piece, and find it's too expensive....just mention that to me. I might be willing to drop the price if you're trying to afford Christmas this year. God bless..... Cathy
