We had never owned a poodle before coming in contact with Carson Poodles.  Cathy lives in Manitoba and we live in BC, however, that didn’t stop Cathy from taking the time to explain some of the nuances of poodles and share her love of them.  It did not take long for us to find a puppy we want to give a forever home to.
Choosing a puppy virtually is different, I know.  Cathy took the time to share stories of the ones we were curious about, shared the personalities of the parents, and how each litter blended into the lives of their litter mates and the Carson household.  We felt we knew what to expect, and we were correct.
Cathy’s support was so tremendous that we bought a puppy from the following litter too.  Navigating our journey with poodles was different from other dogs we have owned, but exceeded our expectations.  Cathy connected us to a local breeder whom has filled in the gaps to important concerns we had, specifically beginning a raw food diet with them.  These two breeders had the wellbeing of the dogs at heart and clearly respected each other’s work and expertise.
One important quality to share about Cathy is her honesty.  She stands behind what she sells and shares the truth about her dogs.  Our first one had a dental issue, which thankfully resolved on its own.  We appreciated her forthright approach.
What a wonderful journey this has been.  Thank you Carson Poodles!

We purchased Carsons Imagine Hey Jude (Jude) in 2013 and loved her so much we
decided on another addition to the family, Carsons Mull of Kintyre (Kinny) in 2014. Beautiful,
intelligent, gentle dogs with simply amazing and unique personalities. Cathy and Martin
are absolutely wonderful and knowledgeable breeders!!!

I purchased Ziggy, a parti poodle from Carson Standard poodles just over 10 years ago as a puppy. He is an exceptionally smart dog, and his main goal in life is to see me slip up in some way so he can take advantage of the situation. A good example would be my turning my back after slicing up some cheese on the kitchen island. He has not had any health concerns, other than injuring his neck in a collision with a tree when he was a puppy. He has not had ear infections or any teeth problems, which can be common with poodles. He is friendly with people and other dogs. We were involved for a few years with Hi Flyers Agility and he was a star performer. He could learn a new trick in three minutes!
We adopted Dempsey, a phantom poodle when he was around 10 months old. He is a half brother to Ziggy, and he is almost nine years old. He is very close to Ziggy. They sleep together and even eat out of the same bowl. Dempsey has been very healthy as well. His vet is amazed how perfectly white his teeth remain. I can’t recall any vet appointments other than routine vaccinations. He is very bonded to our immediate family, but is not keen on strangers entering the house or yard. He is super friendly to everyone we meet on our walks however. And he is really great with kids of all ages, including little babies. His prey drive is very high, and he has managed to control the population of squirrels and groundhogs in our yard. He is good with our cats, but any neighbourhood cats would be fair game unfortunately. He would make an ideal hunting dog for sure. Both dogs go out for a two hour run/walk every day and show no signs of slowing down. We have a 6 foot fence, and if a deer ventures nearby, Dempsey can clear it with ease, even at his age. He eventually returns home on his own.
Ziggy loves the sound of his own voice, and Dempsey rarely barks.

I have no concerns with recommending Cathy as a breeder for any poodles you might wish to adopt. Both of my poodles are stable in their temperament and healthy.

Skeeter, Laberge's pup.jpg

When we started our search for a dog, we knew we wanted a purebred Standard Poodle and that the dog's temperament had to be calm, since we have two children. We did a lot of research before contacting Carson Standard Poodles. The information we received from them on our first contact was beyond our expectations, and more informative than the other breeders we had looked into. Their service was impeccable. Even though we live in Ontario, after talking to Cathy and Martin, we were sure we wanted a puppy from their litter. We took the necessary steps to move forward and they were always very informative of the puppy we picked, even though we were 14 hours away. We were sure we were going to have a nice addition to our family. When we received our puppy, we were right. He is everything we expected, plus more. Skeeter is a very intelligent dog, healthy, he loves children, he is calm when he is indoors but loves to be outside playing, which is a good thing ,since we live in the countryside. It was easy for us to train him since they had started house training him before he arrived in our home. He is only 7 months old today, but he already learned a lot of tricks very quickly and he listens really well. The love we have for this dog is unconditional and we are so grateful for Cathy and Martin for putting so much time and attention into their breed. Their expertise and knowledge of the breed makes their dogs truly wonderful. We will always be grateful.

We purchased our lovely girl Penny from Cathy and Martin in the summer of 2020 and we have been loving our life with her!

After expressing interest in getting a dog from Carson Standard Poodles, we connected with Cathy who described their approach to breeding and emphasized the calm temperament that they strive for in their dogs. Penny has been exactly that! So much so, that others often remark on that quality in her.

Throughout the entire process Carson’s kept us informed with how the litter was doing, sending us regular updates (including videos) which showed the puppies interacting with each other and their parents. We were able to see and hear about the puppies individual traits and personalities, which was helpful in making our selection.

When it came time to select our pup, we were able to visit Carson’s, meet the puppies, the parents and their other dogs. We saw the environment that the puppies are raised in, which was open, natural and homey, and saw that the puppies were exposed to other animals (bunnies and chickens), as well as Cathy and Martin’s children. This was reassuring to us because we could see that our puppy had been socialized from a young age.

While still being a curious and playful puppy, Penny maintains a calm disposition. She plays well with other dogs, is great around children and picked up walking on a leash very quickly! Carson’s begins house training their puppies early on and Penny seemed to know that outside was the place to ‘go’ right away. She has truly enriched our lives and we are so excited for the years to come.

We would without hesitation recommend Carson Standard Poodles.

Angus Jim Heron.jpg

We visited, liked the environment Cathy has created for her poodles and were impressed by the parents and their litter. We visited again and came home with Angus, who is now 16 weeks old and a delightful addition to our home.
Choosing a breed and finding a breeder you can work with is not easy. I did a lot of research and made a lot of contacts before I found Carson Standards and Cathy. My first conversation with Cathy was lengthy, I had a lot of questions and was slow to trust. Cathy was patient with me. Her knowledge, truthful answers and quiet confidence in her breeding were and continue to be refreshing.
Knowing where my pup came from and feeling good about it is important to me.
I’m glad to have found Carson Standards.

Coffee.jpg

Choosing the right dog to fit in the family is not easy.  For years, our kids have been begging us to get a dog as addition to the family.  We have to consider a lot of things though before getting one since both my husband and my kids have allergy.  Also, we need to have a deeper understanding and a thorough knowledge of what to expect when getting a pet.  One day, my husband came across Cathy's post about their new litter of poodles.  We saw this cute little red puppy and absolutely fell in love with her.

We contact Cathy and Martin and explained our situation that it will be our first time to have a dog and that we do not know what to expect.  Cathy went above and beyond our expectations.  She has been really patient and explained to us everything we need to know and even offer us to contact her anytime we have questions.

Talking to Cathy over the phone was our green light, so after eight weeks, we got our dog from them, our Coffee.

Coffee is the most adorable, sweet, smart, playful, protective newest member of our family.  Our family bonded right away with her, a match made in heaven, and everyone loves her.   She brings us a lot of joy especially in this time of pandemic.

Coffee is just an amazing family member. We cannot imagine a life without her.  We are just grateful to Cathy and Martin for the knowledge they shared to us and making us realize what kind of joy Coffee can bring to the family.

I would highly recommend the Carson Poodle to anyone who would like to have a poodle.  They are an amazing breeder in all levels.
